In light of the recent tragedy in Texas, Father Ken Simpson encourages us to look around and ask, what do we celebrate? What do we tolerate? And what do we presume? And after doing so, how can we listen for and add to the peace-filled voices amongst the noise. As we approach Pentecost, we pray: Come, Holy Spirit. Grow in us the spirit of understanding as we face the complicated roots of violence. Give us the courage and the right judgment to innovate and act: building households, neighborhoods, and cities of peace. Give us fortitude for this long journey in front of us, and nourish us in community and the sacrament of the Prince of Peace. Come, Holy Spirit.
